We are seeking a passionate and experienced Level 2 swimming coach to join our dynamic team at
Darlington Amateur Swimming Club.
Our Swim Club is a thriving and inclusive swimming community dedicated to nurturing local talent and
providing the youth of Darlington with swimming skills to last a lifetime. With Swim Mark accreditation,
our club presently includes approximately 100 members, with ages varying from 8 to 18 years. We
operate over a number of different pools in the Darlington area, 6 nights a week, offering structured
training levels.
Darlington Swimming Club runs a successful training and competition programme including regular
attendance at County, Regional and National events. In recent 2025 County Championships DASC took
35 swimmers who entered a total of 154 events, securing 34 Final swims, 10 medals overall and 3 County
Championship titles. Short course NERs saw us take 14 Open swimmers with 4 swimmers within the 16
year age group alone qualifying for 14 final swims. 8 of our age group swimmers competed in 39 events
and secured 3 regional bronze titles and 1 silver title.
The Role:
- Plan and deliver engaging, structured, and progressive swimming sessions.
- Work with inclusive swimmers of varying levels, helping them develop their technique, fitness,
and confidence. - Provide individual feedback and motivation to support swimmers’ progression.
- Ensure all coaching practices adhere to safety regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with fellow coaches to develop training plans and support club objectives.
- Monitor swimmer development and prepare individuals for competitions where applicable.
- Provide coaching cover when necessary
- The Coach must demonstrate the ability to communicate with parents and coaches and fulfil all
required administration duties in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Level 2 Swimming Coach Qualification.
- Previous experience coaching swimmers at different skill levels.
- Strong knowledge of swim techniques, stroke mechanics, and training principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire and motivate swimmers.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive environment.
- Certified lifeguard or willing to obtain certification,
- Experience in competitive coaching, or additional aquatic qualifications.
- Valid full UK driving licence, due to us operating out of different pools in the Darlington area, and
for competitions nationwide. - DBS clearance.
- Safeguarding Certificate
